Substack is the best training ground for a writer. Likewise, for those of you who aren’t interested in becoming “a writer” or rely on writing as part of another profession, Substack will make you a better writer.
I have been subscribed for a few months, hoping to do a deep dive into your content in anticipation of launching a Substack (or deciding it's not for me, lol). But I've been sick all spring.
It's been a treat today to finally have a brain and time to begin reading back through the enormous amount of useful content you're offering. Thanks for what you do!
I'm putting out my 50th chapter for my serialized crime fiction on Friday! I have a small (but very excited/invested) fan base, but trying to figure out how to expand my readership. The work is there and ongoing (2 chapters a week at about 1200-2000 words each), so hoping the readers on Substack will find me! As a writer, I'm really enjoying the format. I have a full story ark, but have always been daunted by a *full manuscript* when working on prior book projects. I've held myself to 2 chapters a week and while it's still a big time commitment, it feels much more manageable than a huge manuscript, and I'm already over 100,000 words!
That’s amazing! Congratulations! With my serialization Cues, I’ve now recorded the whole thing as an audiobook and if you do it on Substack as a voiceover and create a podcast on Spotify, you’ll have your audiobook available on Spotify. That’s great for discoverability. Spotify is also getting into audiobooks. Think about it.
Basically, I recorded the voiceover of each installment, and then connected it to my podcast, which is very easy. All you have to do is a voiceover on the post.
I would really want to attend, however, I have a prior commitment scheduled at the same time. I was wondering, will the session be recorded and saved where we could listen to it later?
Thank you for sharing great resources on writing most of us would not get access to. I look at my Substack journey to become a better, skilful writer; growth will come later. Your posts about writing are my favourite, even though I'm part of a cohort, which is also great. You’re doing such excellent work, and I appreciate you 🙏
Thank you so much, Sarah! This post is so helpful and exciting! I absolutely love how you serialized "Cured"! What an awesome project!!!
I have been watching your excellent videos about serialization and highly enjoyed it.
My question to you: Do you have a video in which you describe how to serialize a memoir/book step by step?
I don't know the Substack tools so well yet and feel a bit overwhelmed with getting started to serialize my book...
Thank you so much, Sarah!
Love & Blessings 💖

Hi there, unfortunately, the people running the summit are going to charge for the replays. Not my preference.
Hi Sarah. Too bad, but Will figure out a way to attend. Thanks!
Can’t wait to dig in to all of this juicy guidance!!!😃
I’m so glad.
Sarah this is wonderful, thanks for adding my name.
