I became a paid subscriber yesterday. I'm still trying to find the challenge since I didn't have Notes boost emails click when I joined. (I've clicked it now.) I hope I can find this challenge before the month is out. Otherwise, I've wasted my money.
Hi! I'm trying to join but the link is taking me to a page that says "The page you are attempting to access is not found. If you want to claim this URL you can start a Substack today." Has anyone else run into this? Would love to join the challenge!
Correct! I just tried the link, and it doesn't work for me either. I'm hoping this gets fixed soon. I became a paid member specifically for this. If it's not fixed, I've wasted my money.
I was hit or miss with this challenge, there was a period in the middle where I would post 5 days a week for about a month, but during the last few weeks I dropped out. Regardless, this past month I have had the largest growth I've ever had, growing from 574 subscribers to 695 at the beginning of April. I often get 20-50 subscribers a month max. Even with my haphazard participation I had some incredible growth. I look forward to new challenges!
I'm really sorry I missed this yesterday. But I have been in a slight state of exhaustion and withdrawal after not missing a day of the challenge. I found it stimulating, a bit addictive, really challenging - also absolutely illuminating in the discovery of how I looked differently at the world knowing I had to find something to write about every day. Something that I could distil into an engaging, entertaining, truthful and short piece of writing - a bit like flash fiction.
RESULTS: - huge.
I have been truly stunned at how my subscriptions grew - albeit free but still. I started at around 100 and am now at 694! Mad. I also have started a 'companion' Substack - I had such a HUGE result with one Note (over 16,500 likes and hundreds of comments):
I, like so many others, have met so many fascinating contributors and have developed some friendships and learned so much that I just wouldn't have done had I not been part of this. Thanks to all of you.
I gained 51 subscribers in the last 90 days. This may not seem like a lot, but I only had 108 at the start of that. That’s nearly 50% growth. My followers have gone up by about 400.
And there’s some icing on this delicious cake: I’ve learned how to write better Notes by trying Sarah’s tips, through lots and lots of practice, and from watching which Notes did well and which ones didn’t.
This Note about my dad going back to school at the age of 50, and me considering it at the same age, got 105 likes — my all-time high. And the best part? The people I connected with in the comments.
Started Substack with nothing. Not Tic, not Insta, hardly any FB except for family. So there's that.
However, I learned about posting for digital media. I found beautiful stacks and made online friends. You guys are so interesting! And, notes was a great way to start the morning.
It's so important to celebrate when we engage in a deliberate practice. Most of you know me as a grief doula/ grief coach/ grief geek -- but I'm also a leadership coach and work in elite sport, supporting athletes and coaches to achieve their BIG HONKIN' AUDACIOUS GOALS.
So I know a thing or two about devoted practice. It's the tiny, daily, incremental commitments we make to something that shifts our way of being over time.
What I most loved about this Challenge is BEING WITH ALL OF YOU. Everything else was a distant second. Yes -- I grew enormously over the past few months -- yes I got more paid subscribers -- yes I loved the daily practice of findings something meaningful and authentic to share -- but above all else, I LOVE BEING WITH YOU. If it feels like I'm shouting it's because I am SO GRATEFUL.
I had lots of favourites but my most recent one of HELP ME, HELP OTHERS, made me feel both connected and helpful.
I know it's hard to speak about grief and death and dying ... so I really don't expect to have a huge following. My biggest dream is that people come to me BEFORE the grief hits them like a ton of bricks -- that they get the literacy before their world is shattered -- that they know where to go when life goes sideways.
Thanks to everyone for engaging, playing and commenting. I've loved every minute of it.
Like others here, I cannot find the challenge. The link is not working.
I just joined up (the year sub) and I haven't been able to get into it either.
Okay I see I'm not the only one having the issue of not being able to join! Comfort in numbers, right?
Hi Sarah, I didn't get an email for the boost challenge today--I have notifications for the notes boost challenge enabled. What am I missing? Thanks!
Same here. The links don't go anywhere. I really want to join but I can't!

I didn’t get notification on boost challenge for noon April 8. I see no workable way to join it. What am I missing?

that I decided to base a regular post around it.

I managed to gain 200+ new subscribers after a note of mine went a little bit viral, which was very exciting and encouraging.
👏🙏 I’ve also found some really lovely new stacks that I’m enjoying, too 🫶
Natalie, that's huge!
Here's a link to my online friend Julie Snider (Impermanent Joy)'s favorite post. It's a good one.
